A Real Magic

A Real Magic

A Chapter by Ink

It is still dawn when Cal awoke and prepared his things. Grandpa was right they have not thought of the woods. But today he himself will bring his boys home. This kind of mischief is not new to him, he had his years with his twin before they took different paths.
He will bring them home together, as once his father did.

Its still a bit dark at woods, the mad man stirred again and Janson and Jarson stood by him. Nicholas took his kneeling position. Then Nicholas screamed "Gyahhhh!"

The mad man rose quickly.
"Look!" Said Nicholas
The mad man stared at Jarson holding Nicholas by the neck and at Janson staring at him with a creepy smile.
"I understand you are interested in this coin?" Janson held the last coin up

"Th-thats!" The mad man flushed
"And not only that but them too?!" Asked Jarson nodding to the bag of coins
"You can't scare me!" Said the mad man
"No but our magic will!" Janson exclaimed and as he did Jarson let go of Nicholas and Nicholas flew and vanished screaming.

"You see I ask for him to secure my coins--" said Jarson
"But it seems he failed me and got caught by you! So I sent the rain down to stop both of you and retrieved all my coins back." Janson continued

"But I caught you! If you are magic indeed why did I caught you! Trickster!" Shouted the mad man

"What better way to catch a fish..." Jarson stopped then Janson starts "...than giving it live bait." Jarson slowly joined his brother now both boys with a creepy smile.
The mad man look wildly around for Nicholas. Then back at the boys
"He is.." Jarson started " back in my dimension." Janson finished

Then out of nowhere Nicholas gave a painful scream that echoed through the woods.
The twins came closer to the kneeling mad man, his ears covered by his hands.

Jarson took the left and Janson the right. Then both of them altogether whispered "This is the part where you run."
And so the mad man did. Leaving everything behind without looking back.

The boys heard a rustle among leaves and Nicholas came to view. "I told you I make excellent traps! Sure it was hard to dangle but, that drunkard running, well it is worth it!" And he gave the boys a hug and laughed hard. Rubbed their heads and gave them another hug "Brilliant! Brilliant!"
The boys beamed.

Now all is well between three. But Nicholas recited "Where is your home?"
The boys' face saddened.
"Well Nicholas that was what we were trying to find out!" Said Jarson
"We got lost looking for adventure!" Janson added

"When I was young my father told me that he himself looks for adventure. But he found out that is not how it works."
Nicholas sat looked at the boys wondered expressions.

"Trouble happens when you look for trouble but an adventure is different, it is given to great men!" Nicholas answered their looks

"So?" Janson started
"It'll come if it was meant to?" Jarson added

"A bit yes! But no" Nicholas created another wild look on the boys " Great men are bestowed greatness they don't go creating or chasing trouble to achieve it. " Nicholas explained

"Humility!" Janson replied
"Yes exactly!" Nicholas agreed

The boys exchange looks "Grandpa!" They said altogether
"You know, I do think that the coin is magic!" Nicholas held a coin aloft the others, Janson had handed it over before. "Because if it wasn't then I could have died or you could have been forever wandering." Nicholas finished

With that they agreed, Nicholas handed back the coin to Janson. "This relic belongs to those who found it. "

They thanked each other, Nicholas offered a lift.
"My horse is here somewhere."
And Nicholas whistled for his horse.

"I wish father was here!" Jarson whispered so only Janson and the coin could hear.

Magic is strange. So mysterious. In that moment Cal, the twins' father, had walked thrice a meter and found a horse. Seeing it is alone he rode it without hesitation, somehow the horse thought the man familiar and did not react to him unwantedly. A few more gallop a whistle was blown and the horse dashed carrying the frightened Cal towards the whistle. And so it reached the sound . Cal found his boys jumped off the horse only to cry and lift his darlings. The boys altogether exclaimed "THE COIN IS MAGIC! THE COIN IS MAGIC!"

And a nervous Nicholas came forward.
"F-father?!" Nicholas exclaimed in disbelief . The boys gasp and was put down by their father.
"Carl!" Cal exclaimed and went for Nicholas
"No I am Nicholas ! But Carl is my Father's name!" Nicholas answered

And so they learned how the King on the other side is the twins' Uncle, Cal's brother and Nicholas their cousin. What ever was the dispute of Cal and Carl, it was then and there forgotten when they were brought to Carl's home . It was a joyous reunion!

The twins felt pride in believing in their magic. The words their grandpa told them instilled forever and will be passed down to their family as is the magic coin.

So there and as told, some stories have truths in them, lessons and perhaps gifts awaits those who look for this truths.

Grab a coin, make a wish and gently whisper.

The End.
