Let Me Be Alone With Me

Let Me Be Alone With Me

A Poem by Rain
"

I love life/I love people. When alone I think of both. The noise of life can be overwhelming. It is in solitude I can see and understand things more clearly..

"
i wish i was
a bird with wings
to sail above
everything
high above
the homeless camps
broken people
exit ramps
take my chances
above the clouds
look down upon
the weary crowds
let me glide
above it all
the greed and hate
the shopping mall

because i don't need a lover
i don't need a friend
i don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or pretend
i want to ride upon the breeze
let it guide my destiny
i just need a heart i know
let me be alone with me

i wish i was
a bird with wings
looking down
on wedding rings
pushed in back
of musty drawers
with musty dreams
of moon lit shores
i want to fly
beyond the sight
of everyone
who hurts for spite
above the wars
fought for greed
a world that's lost
it's dignity

because i don't need a lover
i don't need a friend
i don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or pretend
i want to ride upon the breeze
let it guide my destiny
i just need a heart i know
let me be alone with me

"a world that's lost

This sums up the necessity for moments of solitude, to let us get above it all, forgetting all our woes and minor worries and look down upon the world as a whole. Excellent.

The comment about a world that's lost it's dignity is so fitting, one of the reasons we need to escape. Nothing is sacred or private any more.

Well done.

Sometimes I think we all wish we could get away. A wonderful poem, thanks for sharing.

We must enjoy the company of oursleves to appriciate others. In this world it's so hard to find a spot to be alone, so if we could fly we could be above and find that time alone with ourselves. As always your insight is right on point. I wish I could fly above too.

Our friends are well-meaning, but sometimes clumsy. Missing the word that should be said. Lacking the perspective that is sorely needed. Let me fly. High above the ugly of the ordinary day. Let me find my own way. Guided by my own light. This speaks to me, Ray. And this is exactly the time of year when we all need to do a little more of that. Love ya.

Very well done, a classic for today with well thought out phrasing and excellent tone. Back to the basics of life.

I think I'll read back on this tomorrow morning, just to remind myself of how I don't need things like people need them, the way this poem sells to anyone that reads it truly that malls and rings mean nothing.

Just like the classics, this hints that the narrator is above things like that, things of material.
Just like the classics, you signify that there's a way to be above it. You're "looking down on it', and gliding above it.

I'll certainly read this in the morning.

oh Dear Rain yes its getting like too much for every one
Fly me away ..dont let me see what i daily see..
for i like not whats going around me
take me away ..as far as i can be
i can see no more misery ..no more madness..this is too much for me
this is so nice Rain
i wish i was
a bird with wings
to sail above
everything
high above
the homeless camps
broken people
weary crowd ..let me glide above all..greed and hate
because i don't need a lover
i don't need a friend
i don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or pretend
i want to ride upon the breeze
let it guide my destiny
i just need a heart i know
let me be alone with me..oh what nice words Rain..its a call to give up all and get away ..be alone
from it all..maybe being away will drive some of the too much pain away

wonderful..

I enjoyed this. Been in a depression lately so this piece fit my mood a little. Nice work. As for repetitive, there are several really nice pieces of poetry that I have read that have been that way...drives home the point.

This poem expresses everyones want to be known but know
that only we and God sees our lifes. In truth we'll never be
fully known either by a family member or a spouse they'll
know our ticks, and routines but our past, thoughts and such
are locked away. I like this poem because it recognizes this and
knows that our heart alone understands us.
