The Boiling Man

The Boiling Man

A Poem by Joseph - Michael
"

There was a time when I fell so hard on my knees and I was only 17 when I wrote this. Years later, it's still taunting me, even in my sleep.

"

Shh, Listen...   There's A Man...   Playing An Unusual Violin...

With The Strings That Are The Nerves...   And The Veins...   From His Own Arms...

How Wonderous The Sounds...   Of The Agonies Made...   By The Slicing And Dicing...

Down With The Lambs...   Up With The Larks...

Run To The Beds, Children...   Before It Gets Dark...

Around, Around The Sun We Go...   As The Moon Goes Around Us...

While The Parts Of Us Are Dying...   In The Slow And The Painful Ways...

We Do Not Die Of Death...   We Die Of The Vertigo...

Run, Dying Breeds, Run...   Like There's No Time...   And No Tomorrow...

Yet, We're All Still Gonna Die One Way...   Or Another...   No Matter What...

And I Just Saw The Dead...   Small And Great...  Stand Before The God...

I Witnessed The Blood Of The Christ...   Dripping On All Of Their Skins...

This Is Just Another Altar...   Inside The Church...   Of The Fears And The Pains...

Now, I Know Why Jesus Wept...

This i found to be a unique read. It's different format cause my mind to spin around alot like the images that you presented.
I liked how it was heart felt. The feelings of dispare and helplessness, seemed to fling out like and open blender.
Good read!
Thanks for sharing!

Cool! This thing's all over the place. Made me dizzy, but it was worth it. :) I really like the urgent and whispering tone of this poem; it just sounds so eerie and sinister to me (a characteristic that I really enjoy in poetry and other pieces of literature), and it kept my attention.

Verse 9 and below are my favorite because they were just absolutely awesome. I'm not sure why, but I felt a strange connection to that entire half of this poem... nothing that I can explain clearly but something was there in my head that said, "Whoa, I felt that," nontheless. Thanks for posting this. ^^ It was very entertaining!

Powerful and visceral.

That and I have a huge soft spot for pieces that use and challenge the religious lexicon.

Up with the larks indeed!

Kindness is the melodramamine for our emotion sickness.

Only crits are that you could cut some "the's" to make it read slicker, and there are a couple of dropped "S's"

Don't you just love looking back on some of the things you wrote awhile ago and seeing how good they really are? Wonderfully visual, I like this one. A fun read, though dark in its content.

absolutely amazing. i love the beginning, how it really captivated the readers attention. the rest of the poem definately delivered a dark feeling but not depressive. amazing work.

I loved the set up and the breaks, it made it quicken the pace yet keep it hauntingly slow. Great write and wonderful imagery.

It's very nice indeed. I don't understand why you have rated this as mature.

So, I'm just getting into this site and just getting into your writing, as it were. This is the first thing that I've read and let me say, wow! It's dark, so deep. "Now I know why Jesus wept..." is the perfect ending line. So much of it actually gave me chills. I'm really at a loss for words. As much as I'd really like to pick this apart and praise every line, I can't. You've really struck me, my friend. I look forward to reading more.
