O, Dark Master

O, Dark Master

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

The best part of waking up...

"
I was only fifteen
In the beginning
My longing was deep;
I thought I was sinning

Back then I thought
You needed much more
I'd add heavy cream
And sugar galore

Now stepping up
To the coffee bar
I see you are perfect
Just as you are

Reaching for you
My heart just beats faster
For you, my caffeinated,
Dark-roasted master

I have read or seen somewhere where they said that the coffee with the tea business will become second to oil. A splendid read and write...:)

That makes sense - there's a lot of energy in caffeine! ;) Thanks, Sami!

:) I have a friend who says "Coffee is like sex; even when it's bad, it's good..." LOL!

LOL. Kinda of true.
Read my mind on a topic of mutual interest. A short history of a relationship that mature. Whimsical rhymes in a well balanced set of four stanzas. May be out of my lane here to suggest but a couple minor thoughts -- on the line, "To the coffee bar" -- I found myself hankering for an alliteration here like "barrista's bar."

I'm taking inspiration from this and hope to write you one back--close in name but I have in my head "dark redeemer."

Thanks, John! You are absolutely right about "barrista's bar" - why did that not occur to me?

I can really relate to this. As a Navy brat, I started early; Mom hobbled its effect by adding milk, but I soon became a purist. I drank it black for years. Then I discovered whole bean coffee and the wondrous quality of freshly ground. Finally me and the bucket of stars connected, and I have been their slave since. This light-hearted yet intimate poem is a jewel.

Yep! :) Thanks, Doc!
Rita..You give a cup of black coffee real sex appeal ! Some of those big name brands should sign you up as their promotions agent....You'd make them and yourself an absolute fortune, plus you'd never run out of supplies of your favourite early morning fix !

(ps my idea so I get a small commission as well) !!

Hahaha 'dark roasted master'....great line! Could never get the hang of it without cream, as much as I adore the bitter taste, still need a little light in those dark notes. *smiling* as always. :-)
