O, Dark Master

O, Dark Master

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

The best part of waking up...

"
I was only fifteen
In the beginning
My longing was deep;
I thought I was sinning

Back then I thought
You needed much more
I'd add heavy cream
And sugar galore

Now stepping up
To the coffee bar
I see you are perfect
Just as you are

Reaching for you
My heart just beats faster
For you, my caffeinated,
Dark-roasted master

I almost thought this was going an entirely different route. Phew! But I liked it, the simplest things can be so much more, perhaps the coffee and the additives you use symbolize some advance in maturity. Eh, for some reason i feel philosophical and ranty today. Great write as always, Rita.

haha I will! :) you're welcome
So you "heard" the Folger's jingle echo inside too as this wound its way along the paper - or do you only keyboard (as a verb it's so more meaning-full than merely "type")?

A poem about coffee... why haven't I thought if this yet? From one coffee addict to possibly another, you brewed a very nice blend in this writing. MmmMmm good!
