Immobilized

Immobilized

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

A regular occurrence

"

I cannot move my legs at all

It’s really quite an issue

I can’t get up to do my chores

Or even get a tissue

Thank goodness it’s not permanent

This immobile plight ~

When the dog decides to move

I know I’ll be all right

it's been my experience that the bigger the dog, the bigger the need to be in your lap (i have a 90 lb cuddle bunny who is only happy sitting on top of me). my thinking is that they immobilize us to remind us to slow down and relax sometimes.....who am i to argue with such a zen-like creature?!

I like that philosophy... :)
A very good write Rita. Short, concise and succinct. It made me laugh. I've been there and your words brought back good memories of my pets. Good imagery as is the flow and rhythm of the piece. Excellent rhyme. Good depth of feeling. I love the twist of the last two lines. Well done. Write on!

She feels like she's even heavier when she sleeps... and I do hate to disturb her! :)
LOL!!!!
When my kids were little, I had an Old English Sheepdog...
In fact, me missing her is what inspired my late husband to buy me the little shih Tzu who is the puppy love of my life these days.
I can still remember trying to get her hundred pounds of hair down off the tree branch she had managed to scramble up to...she was following "her" kids...
You have made the dog lover in me smile!!

Oh, the cat makes herself known, too. She loves to lay on my husband's keyboard when he's working.
