Sasquatch

Sasquatch

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

He exists...

"

I thought I saw a Sasquatch

He was strolling down my street

He was very large and hairy,

And he had enormous feet

I followed him for fifteen blocks

To get a closer look

With each step of his giant shoes

The concrete pavement shook

Finally he turned around;

He knew he had been followed

His dark brown eyes, they pierced my soul;

In fear, I stared and swallowed

“Just what is it you want from me,

a lonely, humble yeti?”

I dropped my gaze, I felt such guilt;

I knew my thoughts were petty

“I didn’t think that you were real,”

I started to explain

He roared with laughter, “Oh thank God!”

I thought he was insane

“I’m used to curiosity,

endured it all my life

I just thought you were spying

for my beast of an ex-wife!”

I always loved the bigfoot since he had his a*s kicked by the Six Million Dollar Man in the 1970s - ya got love the underdog (or should that be under-beast).. :P

Great stuff

Ha, ha! Rita, this is a good one. I love stories about sasquatch. What a humorous take on an unlikely city encounter. Your poems are always so lively and entertaining. I enjoyed reading as I do every time I visit your page.

Thanks so much, Damien! So glad you enjoyed this!
I know how you feel, Rita.....if we see something worth seeing, we want to share it, don`t we?....and if there`s no-one else around, we feel cheated, don`t we? This is a smashing tale....and I for one, DO believe you! P.

heehee...selfish one isn't he?
Bravo, Rita. I'd wondered when someone would write a poem about his big-footedness, and finally, here it is! They are real, as are hobbits, for I've dated one of each. You should read this to your students.

Wirty and humorous, Rita. The sighting and your encounter are wonderfully described, and the ending made me laugh. Nicely done

Do you think no one would have married him? Or that the Sasquatch is unlikely to divorce? ;) Thank.. read more
This is a funny story poem with a beautiful cadence, and none of your rhymes are forced. Your rhymes are also exact ones, and you didn't use any of your rhyming words more than once. Sasquatch may also be seen as a metaphor for diversity.

Ha! Love this! I just read it out to my husband and he laughed like mad! The flow is really good. Reminds me of Dr. Wood. Angi~
