Witching Hour

Witching Hour

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Stay inside at midnight...

"

Wild visions in the night

Increase, and set the heart afright

Tainted phantoms howl and moan

Cries that chill you to the bone

Hallowed souls unwelcome here

In anguish, at the demons peer

No veil will keep the imps at bay

Ghostly forms, now out to play

Haunting all who take the chance

Of joining in the midnight dance

Unbidden sights will make you cower,

Relentless in the witching hour

I love it! I wrote a poem like this called Scorned, and I did it in the same manner. I love this structure, and you did it well! It really fits for the coming holiday, too.

I know what you mean and I feel the same way!
Really good, Rita. Acrostics are an extremely difficult form and you have mastered it with this one on top of rhyming perfectly. I give this an A+

An A+ - thank you! :) I like the challenge of an acrostic, and rhyming makes it fun!
Very Edgar Allen Poe of you...... As usual a great story with an unmatched rhyming scheme! Nice use of an acronym, by the way!

Of course! Thanks, Tom!
I love this! Is this an acrostic? I saw the vertical words right away, and your lines rhymed so smoothly. Spooky little pictures painted for Halloween. Working my way through 64 read requests, so excuse my brevity.

Well, I do that a lot, but you are right - normal people have to wait until Halloween... :)
This is very creative of you, putting down all the first letters and knowing at the end they will back one word which is your heading is an amazing creativity, on to the poem....You are good at what you do. Chills and more chills at the thought of the witching hour.
