I Am The Road

I Am The Road

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

.

"

I am the road

        full of holes and cracks

        paved over, but the scars

        are there

I am the road

        to unbridled adventure,

        and unknown corners,

to past recollections and future folly

I am the road

        broken

        and winding

        yet which remains

firmly under your feet

When you have wandered

into weary ~

I am the road

to lead you home.

Despite the strain and roughshod tracks that are apparent, follow me and I will lead you safely home !

Tremendous Rita, such humanity and compassion within these eloquent poetic lines !!!

You got it, Tom - and I am truly grateful! Thank you!
What a lovely sense of peace the last lines bring to me! Home and the ones waiting for me there always draw me back. I long for home some days and what a blessing it is to have such a place. I am not talking about bricks and morter either, but I think you already know this. Really beautiful, Rita. Angi~

Thank you so much, Angi - :)
Beautifully written spiritual thoughts. We all need something to rely upon. The "road" is different things to different people, but we all walk on the road that leads us to "home". A comforting write. I liked it. I also liked the way you indented the lines. Lydi**

If I were a road someone would stick a detour sign in front of me

Lol! I had a line about roadblocks, but decided against it... Thanks for reading!
Perhaps we all follow a road that leads back home.

I believe we do, Marie...
and i want to ramble and amble to that home...sounds like such comfort...

reminds me of Dylan--

The road home to a safe and warm place of love is always the best road to travel, but often the road least traveled! You remind me how wonderful it is!! May be a rambling thought, but one that puts one foot in front of the other in the right direction!!
