Game Play

Game Play

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Seuss Style - #1

"

Children frolicked as they should

All around the neighborhood

Playing games of every kind

Like Hopping-Scotch and Seek & Find

But game play has now gone high-tech;

Active thumbs and bent-down neck

The only movement you will see

When they pick up their gadgetry

Maybe someday very soon ~

Perhaps this very afternoon ~

They’ll cross on through the cyber-gate

And then, they’ll start to pixelate

Now, it may be more than wise

To come up with a compromise

So children learn the balance trick

Commanding more than point and click

True, true but let's put more responsibility on the parents who buy these gadgets for them. My grandson spends a lot of his time at our house and he's not allowed to play with any of grandpa's 4 xboxes, lol. Seriously we take time to play outside, do arts and crafts or rear books. I want to teach not to become dependent on Pc's, tablets or smartphones.

Yes, so agree.
But, I'm a way too old gamer myself, love my xbox.
Always make time for bike rides and water slides though. :-)

Very well done, and with a message many of us of a "certain age" can appreciate -- if I hear my niece say one more time "that's how we do it now days auntie" ARRGH -- ! As always, I can find nothing amiss, you have amazing grammar prowess!

Yep. You are welcome....:).......
Excellent bit of writing, Rita! Funny! Funny! Funny! Will you talk to my daughter? She's 13 and all thumbs! Sadly though, parents, even good ones, have empowered this vision. I just hope instantaneous pixelation is just an idea in a very funny poem. Thanks for this one. It's most welcome.

Lol! Yep, that's what I was tying to say!
Perfect and a sign of the times...all these kids are going to need neck adjustments when they get older! It's too bad, they've nearly lost their imagination. Dr Seuss never had such charming and poignant messages in his tales of green eggs. ;)

That process was what made it fun, and expanded the mind as well... Thanks, Jacob.
I admit I have a PS3 and enjoy sports games sometimes… but the youth seem to get hooked on these games and lose sight of the fun in the real world… I am glad we didn't have the technology back then.

Another enjoyable poem, you make a great point with a fun flare describing it.
