Buttercup Grass

Buttercup Grass

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

Honey Rose dances in buttercup grass

that reaches clear up to her knees;

She waltzes the meadow

and leaps through the woods,

her music the birdsong and breeze

and the Sun smiles down

on sweet Honey Rose

keeping time with the Summer’s rich tune

beckoning us to join the ballet;

the melody changes so soon

So true - in winter we long for summer, and in summer we complain about the heat! :) Thanks Frieda.. read more

That's true. Summer will be leavingus soon, and I can give up my August poems and turn to Autumn. The idea of buttercup grasss is a lovely image.

My favorite color combination is that of bright yellow blooms on summer grass... Thank you, Marie!
I love to watch natures dance, it is the most graceful and eloquent one ever. A beautifully clever piece of writing.

I hear ya there :))
A delightful poem, Rita. I could picture a young girl...perhaps one of my granddaughters...romping through a field filled with flowers and butterflies....and giggling as she drinks in the scene. Indeed, the melody changes all too soon. I wish I could still waltz through the meadow with Honey Rose! Such an uplifting write. Wonderful! Lydi**

Will be a frigid tune soon. Honey Rose better make the most of the melody that remains. Nice sunny read, though if I look back on this one in a couple month's time, I shall look back in anger and grudge for Honey Rose's frolic. Nice, refreshing read this. I wished it were longer though. :)
