WHY I’D RATHER DATE A CUCUMBER

Cucumbers won’t give you an attitude if you don’t pick them.

Cucumbers won leave you hanging about your relationship.

Cucumbers won’t break their promises.

Cucumbers are never too busy to keep in touch with you.

Cucumbers won’t let you down.

A cucumber won’t leave you for someone else.

A cucumber won’t read your journal or address/phone book, behind your back.

A cucumber won’t ever cheat on you.

A cucumber won’t ever call to say he is ‘working’ late.

A cucumber won’t ever ask you “how was I?”

A cucumber will always respect you afterwards.

A cucumber won’t ever complain if you don’t want to do it every night.

A cucumber will be there for you.

A cucumber won’t get angry if you change your mind.

A cucumber won’t complain about the weather.

A cucumber will make a good friend.

The end.

Author's Note

Susan
just got fed up with the dating scene. Then became inspired by a book of my mother's called..."Why Cucumbers Are Better Than Men." Enough said.

See, you say all these things about cucumber's, but I warn you, you think they're a better alternative but before you know it they miss the odd phone call, start not texting you back. And then you catch them looking at a paticularly fine specimin and then lie and say they weren't looking, before you know it you find it in bed with that sexy green cucumber from next door who was just their 'friend'. Then you're left pretty much exactly where you left off ...

On a serious note, a nice, entertaining read. Made me smile. Good repetition and a nice cynical view of relationships. Good work..

Quite funny but being a writer and somewhat of a poet myself I always read in between the lines and in the undertones and this piece is filled with sadness, anger, hurt and disillusionment -but not all men are asses just 98% of them. :) After being hurt time and time again we need to build walls to keep the heartbreakers at bay but in time we also need to let them crumble- and let the true love in- be vigilant your time will come

good poem...

my warmest
