Gratitude

Gratitude

A Poem by Tania Leigh

If it’s true that the night belongs to no one,

and if nobody owns the ebony skies,

then from whom am I borrowing the shadows

that are cleverly concealing my soulless eyes?

And to whom do I give thanks for the howling winds

for expertly disguising your desperate cries?

I would also like to thank them for the moonlight

that lets me see your face as I bury you  with your lies.

This happy little poem was inspired by great gusts of wind last night that caused me to look out my window and see a very full moon. The rest is just my twisted thoughts lol

I love this one sis, I can picture you gazing out the window with that look you get on your face while you compose. Something about this line just draws me right in, it's my favorite. Awesome Job!!

A poem of reverence to the night. I can dig that. There's another dimension to the narrator of the poem, who seems to use night as the power by which she tortures and frightens a mysterious antagonist. The night's howling winds cover his desperate cries and the moonlight illuminates his face just long enough for her to see him as she "buries him with his lies." Not bad at all.

This is lovely...the imagery very tangible.
"that are cleverly concealing my soulless eyes?" wonderfully written. I am not a fan of the font....but thats just a personal opinion. Well done!

Yes, I can see it clearly! Well done. And I do believe I know who you can thank... Mother Nature of course! The end, too, is striking, "bury you with your lies." I like this a lot.

liked the pacing... nasty conclusion...ouch

perhaps break the final line for a syncopated, deliberate ending
I hate offering structure advice... feel free to ignore.
In fact, please do.
