Gratitude

Gratitude

A Poem by Tania Leigh

If it’s true that the night belongs to no one,

and if nobody owns the ebony skies,

then from whom am I borrowing the shadows

that are cleverly concealing my soulless eyes?

And to whom do I give thanks for the howling winds

for expertly disguising your desperate cries?

I would also like to thank them for the moonlight

that lets me see your face as I bury you  with your lies.

This happy little poem was inspired by great gusts of wind last night that caused me to look out my window and see a very full moon. The rest is just my twisted thoughts lol

I love this one sis, I can picture you gazing out the window with that look you get on your face while you compose. Something about this line just draws me right in, it's my favorite. Awesome Job!!

There are some nice images here, and some keen word selection, but I don't get the piece. I don't get the correlation between the non-ownership of things, and from whome you are borrowing them. Who are you talking to in the poem?

Wow!!! Your inspiration brought up such profound and insightful questions... and the ending is superb... I love a good twist and that was a great one. BRAVO!!!

This is a lovely dark piece. Great imagery and for a short piece it has a very strong impact. MAde me think of someone out on the moors behind my house on a tempestuous night but with the moon shining through, shovel in hand digging a grave. Well done, I really enjoyed this. NH

hehe I love it, almost macrabre in its delivery. I enjoyed the conversational tone to this poem, and the the first two lines are very beautiful.

Ah, such brilliant questions, conversations in your poetic mind. Dark as night, yet filled with such humorous insights! I just kept reading it over and over!

This is a great write.

If I may, What do you mean by:
"I would also like to thank them for the moonlight
that lets me see your face as I bury you with your lies." ?

I'd love for you to explain. I'm not too good with thinking too well..
Migranes.
Anyways, I loved this whole poem, though I don't understand the end.

Great write!
