Gratitude

Gratitude

A Poem by Tania Leigh

If it’s true that the night belongs to no one,

and if nobody owns the ebony skies,

then from whom am I borrowing the shadows

that are cleverly concealing my soulless eyes?

And to whom do I give thanks for the howling winds

for expertly disguising your desperate cries?

I would also like to thank them for the moonlight

that lets me see your face as I bury you  with your lies.

This happy little poem was inspired by great gusts of wind last night that caused me to look out my window and see a very full moon. The rest is just my twisted thoughts lol

I love this one sis, I can picture you gazing out the window with that look you get on your face while you compose. Something about this line just draws me right in, it's my favorite. Awesome Job!!

Wicked piece, short and atmospheric, great vivid imagery.

Oh, so cold! Really is a chilling line.

Great piece!

And to whom should I thank for this wonderful poem? :)
Very descriptive, full of wonderful imagery that enhance the grate sorrow this poem portrays before us.
Very good rhyming as well - you can't go wrong with the basics.

This is what I refer to as "devilishly delicious". The word play is excellent, the images vibrant. The metaphor works and the play against the thankless night is just "cool". Your work is well done.

Your poem is breathtaking in form and structure and hits in a shocking way as it's being read. Your first four lines drew me in and captivated me entirely. My mouth fell wide open with the last few lines! You have the edge with writing--your entire poem is profound. Astonishing! There's a special place in my favorites library for this!
