Lonely

Lonely

A Poem by Benjamin L. Weekly

Surrounded by people
Yet somehow all alone
Warm friendships are fickle
They've turned hard as stone

All I want is interest shown
Or someone who cares
Asking with tears and sad tone
Why I descend Hades stairs

It feels like abysmal doom
My heart is cold and tired
It's hard to find breathing room
From the quicksand in which I'm mired.

"Why I descend Hades stairs"
Loneliness, this line describes it brilliantly. For such a devious emotion/state of mind you captured it quite well. I really enjoyed this piece. Off to read others...

Surrounded by people
Yet somehow all alone

Those lines were my favorite. We have people all around us that care and love, but somehow we feel alone. Very great job on this one. Heartfelt and emotional.

Beautiful and yet, sad. 'Surrounded by people Yet somehow all alone' Lovely poem on despair and loneliness...It's amazing how much emotion you can capture in 12 short lines.

At one point in my life I experienced this same feeling. Great poem on lonliness and despair.

I hope you don;t really feel this way!
Its such a sad, cold piece.............sometimes you can be suurounded by friends, but feel very alone, but then true friends would sense that, and hug you tight!

I enjoyed this although its sad.
