Iris dance.

Iris dance.

A Poem by Verse
"

Where does the iris come from?

"

One day, the flower gods,
in their heaven,
laughed and laughed as they
created every different kind of flora imaginable.

But, as in any tailor's shop,
bits of material wound up on the sewing room floor
and otherworldly breezes swept the magical pieces away,
out into the open,

where they fell to earth.

Iris is the firmament in petals,
blue on this day, framed in
golden sun
and smiling pinks of sunrise and sunset.

The flute in her voice soars as a leitmotif,
her fellow blossoms the harps and cellos who accompany her.

A taste of iris
would enliven, like the sugar of river water,
and doze like afternoon sounds of sunlight on warm grass.

Her colours play with the calm and lightness
of a little girl's laugh.

What brute strength in the stalk
that spends a lifetime tethering, as the magic calls,
holding onto one hand,
just one more dance,
before iris returns to the sky.

As a rainbow she appeared
and then as one they each fell
hopelessly in love with her
one upon one upon one upon one
until all her beauty was revealed
and they named her Iris.....................this lil bit o modern mythology certainly gladdened this old

Ah, you bring me the iris, but not for long before you take her away. I am sad at the moment so this is like losing a friend. I love how your imagination works on this write Verse. Nicely done.
