Fading away

Fading away

A Poem by willweb

There on a sleeping shorline

of uncounted sand and remnants of childhood castles

rested a single shell, its beauty beckoned

Opalescent glimmers

reflecting on discarded beer tabs

linked only by the memories they produced

Picking it up, it feels as smooth

as your skin on that hot summer day

when I last held you

Placing it to my ear

I can hear the rythym of a long forgotten song,

sung in distant melodies

A perfect tempo,

like that of your pulse felt in that final kiss,

just before you walked away

I can still see those footprints,

as I realize this sound not heard since that day

is the echo of my heart beat, fading away

Great job here, Will. A very sad piece that you were able to tie into a beach seen. Great job!

Thank you so much for your comments today Dhaye. I am glad you liked it.
This is so sweet with a foreboding trail before the end...I don't wish for fairytale endings in love, no such thing but I do wish a happier ending for this eloquent colloquy of words. This is breathtaking will.

Seriously... These allergies are fricking killing me today.

: )

So beautiful, and heart breaking.
And the shell... What was once ALIVE in that shell. GONE.
