An adorable waste of time

Inspired by JD Major

~

She feels it is a waste of time,

adorable no less

Each day I log into the site,

my fun I must confess

 

I watch her smile across the room

as I type out my scene

To make the other readers think,

if you know what I mean

 

Some clever words and thoughts alike,

with questions that they pose

To see if they can figure out,

if anybody knows

 

I love to read their comments and

ideas on display

That’s why I spend my time in here,

it seems most every day

 

Plus, seeing what these poets post,

their talent it does shine

I think I’m very lucky that

a few are friends of mine

 

I look back at her standing there,

such perfect style I see

I must say she is beautiful,

the only one for me

 

My eyes look down, then back at her,

my finger it does twitch

Her glance is so hypnotic that

I hit the power switch

 

When then she calls me over and

gives me the biggest kiss

I close up my computer,

Writer’s Café I will miss

 

She thinks it is a waste of time,

adorable in spite

I will confess that there are times,

I think that she is right

Author's Note

Inspired by a conversation I had with my WC friend and poet JD Major.
He told me that his girlfriend considered his hours on WC as "an adorable waste of time" I told him he should write a poem using that line and he passed that challenge to me...so, here it is. I hope you like it. ; )

Yes, familiar with this evaluation, my wife is very kind to let me have this waste of time, but then, I let her watch the evening news, her form of wasting time. (don't tell her I said so, okay?) Yes, I did like it, caused a smile and a nod.

Believe me she is SO right lol! as I do believe too, that men learned their lesson that women are always right! LOL. this is so adorable, and honestly her expression is so adorable and creative, she should join the poets world here lol. It is never a waste of time to read your words, Will. They flow so easily and the rhyming is flawless. I could picture the scene. Thing is, those who do not write poetry and those who do not enjoy it can not fathom why others are spending time on a poetry site. Being with the one you love in person is important...but a little while with WC will not hurt anyone! Lydi**

Thank you Lydi and this really isn't about me and I don't think the statement was made with any ill intent. I think it was a fun way to look at it for JD's girlfriend. And yes, people who don't read poetry really don't get it but if they tried it, I am sure they would love it too. Thank you again my friend.

sharing writing is never a waste of time....but I understand her point of view.
I feel it.
I used to do poetry workshops for the Heartland Writers Guild in Missouri....
there were novelists, publishers, agents a few poets, not many....but for all of us that weekend was a haven...we were with others who understood and accepted us....
