A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

Okay, Americans, have a sense of humour. I know you don't all think this way ...

"
I remember a stop over in Atlanta
a long time ago,
a nice gentleman I met,
from Idaho ...

He asked me if he could
come up and play in the snow.
I say, "I am in New Westminster, B.C."
"Great",  he says, "I will meet you
next week for coffee,
perhaps we can ski,
I will be in Toronto."

Sure I say, "look me up,
I am just down the street,
maybe we can play hockey too,
and though I am not sure why,
the ice is a little thin
on the Pacific ocean
in July!
"

Thanks. I had fun writing it.
You know you have me laughing my friend...a most clever observation, I've been faced with this scenario in the past as well...nicely done :)

Humour is always funniest when it is just an exaggerated or simplified truth. Thank you.
WHen I was a kid growing up in the Rural south I wanted to drive out to California. Then I found out it was 2500 miles away. That's what I thought of reading this. Good, fun poem KL.

Thanks so much. At least you expanded your knowledge base before the attempt ...
Dear god, what a terrifying disregard for Geography! As if he had no idea just how large Canada is! I enjoy the subtle, snarky humour inherent to this piece. And those jabs on the stereotypes; someone is a bit sarcastic me thinks! And for the record... *cough*, Idaho sucks... (or at least most of the state), I cannot emphasize how much of a wasted trip it would be to visit places like Boise, Twin Falls, or Pocatello... Now, for something a bit funny. There is a city named Ontario RIGHT on the border of Oregon and Idaho; not too far away from Boise. Maybe he ended up waiting there?

It could be. At the time, I did say "call me" and then never answered the phone for a week. LOL.

Ontario is a pretty dull town, it would stink to wait for a gata which was never gonna show, especia.. read more
Andddd I'm of the American variety so this took a bit more to ponder. (Especially with your works and their abyssal depth) I love it though.

Thanks again, my lovely friend.
lol! I can believe this really happened. Most of us down in the lower 48 don't have a conception of exactly how wide Canada really is. We get tourists from British Columbia down in Louisiana all the time, and when they say they are from British Columbia, it is usually followed by slight pause where they add..."You do know where that is, right?" I worked an internship near Seattle, WA for several months before graduate school, so I am quite familiar with British Columbia. Very funny, little kitty! :)

It is pretty much verbatim, although I was sarcastic only in my head, I was polite to his face.
