1000 Horsepower

1000 Horsepower

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

My answer to Noel HC's driving down the highway to George Strait.

"
Last days of summer before
the Polar vortex rolls through,
in my car with the windows down,
stranded random thoughts of you,
so simple to just keep going down the road
see where it goes
where the river flows,
stop thinking about everyone
and everything but me,
take me cross country
to the other sea,
but no,
I have too much responsibility,
so instead I crank it up another notch,
and head home to crack open the Scotch.

Thanks for the words.
That must be a brand I know not of, 'responsible' Scotch....I gotcha...my poison would be vodka though. I live this one....!

Oops sorry.................

Not your fault, just a silly glitch.
As I consider my words I have to say that this is an attractive writing. The desire for liberation is intense and the sense of urgency demanding. There is no time to waste really, but the "stop thinking about everyone, everything but me" is to me a defining moment. So it is that whisky comes to represent a moment of relaxation and reflection.

Cheers to that KL

Thankyou

Thanks so much. I had to end it with a shot of reality.:)
Sounds like a country song, which should be right up Noel's alley. :)

Country and Godsmack. They would think that's funny.:)
Uh, yeah it is so tempting to just keep the pedal to the metal, and keep on going.
Well stated, I enjoyed this one a lot.

This song would probably cause me to keep me driving!

Responsibility puts our feet in cement shoes at times, does it not? How nice it would be to get in the car and drive and leave your worries behind.....but that is just not possible. The scotch will make it a tad easier...till the morning when the hangover hits. Melancholy and just downright sad. You have a great way of expressing emotions, Mandy. Lydi**
