your reputation precedes you sir

your reputation precedes you sir

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

for Lydia, who inspires me, and got me thinking about people who need attitude adjustments

"
your reputation
precedes you,
or is that your
attitude I see
jutting out
obscenely
between your
nose and your
square tip shoes ...

you always need to be
the centre of attention
and you are clearly
the expert on
everything from
diesel engines
to nuclear physics
you thought I was
an easy mark ...

you thought yourself
more than adequate
to enchant me
away from a man
you believe to be
a simple farm hand,
but I see
through you
and into him.

From what I've read, Lydia is a very good writer.

I've known people like the one you describe. They've got an answer for everything. Good poem.
