obscenely

you always need to be
the centre of attention
and you are clearly
the expert on

diesel engines
to nuclear physics
you thought I was
an easy mark ...

you thought yourself
more than adequate
to enchant me
away from a man
you believe to be
a simple farm hand,
but I see
through you
and into him.

Thanks for the comments - both of you. Lydia is much more polished, but we are both observational and literal to a degree. I admire Lydia as a writer and a person.
