it's not hard to get to know me

it's not hard to get to know me

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

inspired by .serah.

"
it's not hard
to get to know me
underneath
my public face
there is a naughty girl
a haughty girl --
I found it funny
when my boss said to me
"you never swear,"
she doesn't
know me and she
never will --
not like you,
or the poets in the cafe' --
I can't ignore a stray apostrophe
and I love a little nasty
again and again
I'll dance in the rain
with butterflies
and eat dragons for breakfast
when I am in the mood.
if the parishioners
only knew
what I was thinking
when I kneel in the pew  --
Sundays after seeing you.
it's not hard
to get to know me
but, at least in public,
there's only
so much I will do.

So, I guess you speak your mind? Now, I just need to use the random apostrophe. This could be fun, my friend!

Redzone does that occasionally. And loves it when I notice.:)
I absolutely love the eating dragons for breakfast! In my feistier moments I have had to pick a dragon bone or two out of my teeth. It is amazing how we bare out naked souls to people here. Some works we might never show to the people who think they know us. Your work speaks to me. So glad I found it. Love the videos you have posted with them.

Ha! Feckin' kindred soul you are, not just to me but to all the insane that have ever picked up a quill, etched into stone, tapped keys as the possessed recorders of times mind. Thanks for letting us into your mind, the true mind we don't see everyday.

What a carefree wonderful image this creates for me. We all are multi-faceted beings. We show one "face" to the public and quite another in private with trusted friends. Those other people don't have to get to know you. You know yourself and that, my friend, is what counts! I liked this one a lot. Lydi**

Aww thanks, I had fun with it.
this poem is about the immune, the physiological immunity that every living soul carries around with them
that allows them to resist and even prevent the development of most chronic psychosis's. What kind of
person is anybody, really? When strobe lights were all the rage at dance parties, even the people who
couldn't dance, danced. And underneath every church girl dress is a pair of pantyhose that begs to
be ripped off.

"I cant ignore a stray apostrophe
and I love a little nasty again and again".

Perhaps poems are a sort of foreplay-word-play, just more everlasting. The suggestions here
are both womanly and unyielding; demonstratively confessional yet un-apologetic //beautifully done....dana

sounds like a very interesting person, no one person will ever get to know another completely - we're all like the subject in this poem

For sure, most people are -- thanks as always. Now it is off to that pesky job in a few minutes.:)
This is one of my favorite poems of the week (& I read tons) . . . this is so true & so playful & so filled with imaginative ways to SHOW us the real "you" that the narrator seems eager to share. I also feel that people get a very different impression of me, based on my public persona. But then my "wild side" is so well expressed by your uninhibited comparisons & word choices. This is really awesome in every way.

You've written down my life. ;) Many people act differently on the outside from what's inside of them. I often am confronted with the sentence " I would have never thought you do/say/whatever something like this" , it's when my hidden side leaks a bit, sort of. I find it amusing but also disturbing in a way.
Well-written piece.
