Puppet

Puppet

A Poem by Annalisa

I sit here at a table,

like a puppet in a play.

You order my food for me and tell me what to say.

Why is it this way?

What would happen if I spoke,

if I said something you did not plan out?

What would happen if I stood up

and walked out?

Perhaps I could become the puppeteer.

I could be a peacemaker,

or maybe a world leader.

I could be myself.

As all these things fly through my mind,

I am still sitting here.

Like a puppet in a play.

Doing everything you say.

Strange how two people's poems could be so much the same ;) I wrote a piece called the "Puppet Master" which was just like yours one of the first poems I've ever written, but never seemed to see the light of day in the cafe.
Hmm maybe I should think of posting it just for a laugh. It is always great to read some of the peoples firsts and then follow them on the site, see how they grow...
'cause thats what happened too me in so many wonderful ways

Anyways back to the piece, I really thought it was great in a very thought provoking way seeing that in some stage in our lives we are the puppet being controlled by others needs. Glad to see that your piece ends in a positive way, wanting to get away!
