Dreams Realized

Dreams Realized

A Poem by Annalisa
"

Written in May 2008.

"

I always dreamed the sweetest things,

Dreams of you, always there,

Holding me tight, protecting me from shame.

I would sit alone and imagine your face,

Imagine the feel of your arms about me,

And smile a sweetly satisfied smile.

You’re here now, and I no longer have to imagine.

Your arms aren’t quit as strong as I thought they’d be,

Your shoulder not the right height to rest my head on.

You smell more like moldy shoes

Instead of damp, fresh earth.

Instead of smiling, I wrinkle my nose,

And try hard not to inhale…

Perhaps some things are better left to dreams.

This made me want to giggle and cry at the same time, hun, you have such a way with words. the phraseing sort of leads you on and then you just sort of arrive at a conclusion, which is amazing. I kind of wish it was longer, it feels too short but completel at the same time...
