Defeat

Defeat

A Poem by Annalisa

 Desperation-

     searching blindly

     in a desert of doubt,

     loosing cohesiveness

as my body goes too long without.

Too long without water

     Too long without life

          Too long without inspiration

Desolation-

     it's been so long

since I've been able to think.

My head is an ugly place,

unfit to walk through late at night,

and yet I find myself trapped.

Too long surrounded by doubt

Too long scared that I've lost myself

Too lost to find my way back out.

Defeat-

     This is supposed

to be what I'm good at,

     what gives me joy,

     and keeps me sane.

Instead I haven't written anything in months,

and each day the voices get meaner and my spirits weaker

until I'm convinced that it's a lost cause...just like me.

Author's Note

Annalisa
...I haven't written anything in so long that I became convinced that if I didn't write something today and post it that I wouldn't write again for months and might not ever post anything again... but it's pretty self explanatory... so what do you think?

I know how feel because this is exactly how I felt (and still kind of feel). I feel as though inspiration and determination has caused me to loss hope in my book The Silverlight Chronicles : Eye of A Faerie Tale. So I'm taking a temporary break from it. But when I wrote about how I felt about not writing a lot, two of my friends gave me advice. Go to http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/Elizabeth_Rose/276772/ (it's kind of a few weeks old now...) and read the advice. It'll help. :]

wow... Don't ever feel this way, you are such a good writer and even the best go through dry spells where they write nothing, you just have to sit down and try, and you did and it is a very cool poem/set of thoughts. i could feel the grasping deperation pulling me in. Don't try and force the writing when you see something that inspires you, then you should write. so if you don't get inspired, just look at it as if the world failed you, not as if you failed to write.

Your feeling of being completely abandoned by luck and love is put down in a simple manor witch offers the reader a good possibility to relate with it.

I like the way you presented the last strophe, but I think you could have chosen a more original font for the entire thing.

Good write :) .

The poem says it all but I have to disagree with defeated. to give up on something because your spirit is weak and you feel you should "Concede", just means your lost in time. I hope this is temporary and your back full steam ahead in no time...
Nice write...you never lost it, you just stopped writing.
