Why Me?

Why Me?

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

What have I learned in my trials so far

"

Scout and I

What have I learned in my trials so far

I think all I need know for now

Been broken, tattered and forlorn

then beaten and made to bow

With time our life so gives

then alongside it must take

Carving character as it goes

a better man of us will it make

As I no longer ask the question

God traded me wisdom for truth

Teaching me the meaning of life

in exchange he took my youth

But would we go back, Tate? It's nice to think that a second crack at youth would be nice, but not if we had to forgo the lessons we've learned on the journey. You have the gift of making the reader stop and consider your poems in the light of their own lives, and this makes them truly worthwhile.

So true, this poem tugged at my heart a bit. Made me a little too weepy for this coffee shop! It's a very beautiful poem.

Oh Tate! All your lines are so deep, so meaningful, so eternal in thoughts!
The last two stanzas are marvels!

"With time our life so gives
then along side it must take
Carving character as it goes
a better man of us will it make

I am loving and reciting the last 2 lines again and again!

Tate thank you for requesting this poem... Wisdom comes at any age not in time. Some people learn life some others learn love, and so on.
reflections are good.. but we can be free.. and freedom is power.
Very good

I'm in love with the last stanza!
This is another great piece.
I really think you should put all of your poems in a book to be published, to further share your work. They are really and truly a blessing to read... each so inspiring.

our beautiful youth - the balances in our mind as we weigh beauty transferred or traded for wisdom....outer beauty traded for inner depth....

God definitely has a funny sense of humor with the way we age....as we are young we act on all the beauty of the flesh and as time goes by our beauty has to be reflected inward....

That is a beautiful piece of work. A lot of truly great lines are housed within this poem. I thought the penultimate verse was superlative, until I reached the ultimate! Very very good. Such powerful wisdom and drawing of emotion.
