The End

The End

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

He bore for her life's burdens Soothed the children of their tears Was the rock all others broke upon Left fond memory of his years

"

Biff Morgan

I fled on wings of starlit hue

across the golden sky

Up into the beyond I flew

watching my dreams go by

Shadows echoed love lost dreams

as memories of my past

Obscuring visions of my trust

all characters I knew last

The love that I so longed for

the beauty that I would need

Said live life as emotion

set forth by a holy creed

In battered rags of ancient might

my god sat on his throne

Viewing me in tortured sight

turning my sins to stone

My life passed by its silent way

asking of him just why

For now it's gone and left of me

I know what it's like to die

A poem like a canvas when we bring several different dabs of paint to express our grief. We point to the sky ... people ... the divine ... and a promise to ourselves not to forget the love. Put in place in such haphazardness that we can't help but feel your trembling ... at the very thought of life's unexpectedness ... its suddenness ... and the experience of immortality. Taking place as it does in the midst of our own endeavors in life ... it sometimes suggests a similar message for all of us.

Nicely done Huckleberry ... certainly one of your best ... in the way it showcases the responses of the passions in their natural qualities. Well done.

Strong passion written with each line. Personally, I want to ride on that falling star not be under it :)

I can receive your emotions very well. Not much to debate, just so much to feel. I liked the Shakespearean referrence too :)

"Under the wide and starry sky,
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.

This is the verse you grave for me:
'Here he lies where he longed to be;
Here is the sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home from the hill"

(Robert Stephenson)

Keep writing.

Such strong words, incorperated into such a powerful poem :) You always seem to be able to convey messages in beautiful ways! we all have our own predicitions of "the end", what will happen, how it will happen, etc etc. Fantastic job!

Interesting write my friend but I doubt if there can be an end except to one chapter, one life. A period of rest then reborn again to learn what we missed last time round.

Wow.
I guess I relate with your fascination with the end. I've always wanted to... I don't know - I've wanted to be the one to destroy the world in the past... But I've always wanted to know... I'm inquisitive, I'm nosy, I'm curious, I always want to know what the next thing is and I'm interested - I want to know what would happen, you know? I want to know.
Great poem, Tate, I thoroughly enjoyed it. You've got me thinking again.

Far too many of us know what it is like to die. Very thought provoking.
