Sweet Things I've Never KnownA Poem by Shaun Payton
Her smile while sipping coffee,
Or her lips blowing the steam away, Or the wishes in her eyes in the days sun, Sweet things I've never known. Her comforts touch in the coldest hour. Her whispers while she sleeps underneath the ageless aching of a souls content. It may be they are nameless, but the colors Have painted, have formed a fruitful tree made of sweet things I've never known. No imagination renders conclusions useless Her fingers turning pages, her heart questioning reasons, the sigh that out last time, it could be Sweet things I have never known, But concluded on my own credit and own admissions, I do not ache, But from time to time When the clock is all I hear I wonder, Of the sweet things I have never known. © 2014 Shaun PaytonFeatured Review
