TRUE-BLUE

A Poem by Ayesha

Newly weds,

early they wonder

Fond of love but nothing to render.

Heart of gold but eyes so blind,

fond of love but nothing to find.

Nothing happened.

No clue.

Felt this before?

Déjà vu?

Newly weds,

benign and gentle,

slowly incurring odium.

No flattery, no more cajole;

waiting to become

a taciturn.

Newly weds,

lately they wonder

who faded away all the fun and

what caused the disunion?

Hello Ayesha. Welcome back to wc. Newly weds, everything in the garden is rosy to start, and then after a time some of the shine can go. That’s when the hard work should take place. Sadly some aren’t prepared to invest. It’s easier to give up, takes guts to stick with it. And if you do, there are rewards. Just had 40th anniversary. I’m not complaining. Good to read you.

Absolutely right and thank you.
I've never been married, but I've heard and read about the downfall many take after crossing the threshhold. When I'm lonely, along with the daydreams of happiness with wedded bliss, I contemplate how bad it could be, too. lol

Nice writing. And I like the word taciturn too. :)

Welcome back, Ayesha.
This poem is a fine journey that newly weds take together in life.
Life and love fade away and we keep wondering why.
Well written

I am always fascinated by... the notions of, versus the actuality. When I was in the hospital and having been fed thru a tube for almost two months I began to crave some of the silliest things... Diet ginger ale! But one of the problems was I could not swallow anymore I lost a lot of things after dying once or twice and one of them was swallowing. my muscles were so atrophied and even my programming had to be retrained it took weeks for me to do it. But when this wonderful therapist gave me some ginger ale with a thickening agent to help me exercise the muscles it tasted just awful LOL! The conception of and the reality did not seem to mesh very well. I think oftentimes we do this with a lot of things and it seems the greater the expectations the harder the disappointments.

Very true indeed. The best is to expect the worst. So sorry you had to go through that. Have been in.. read more
when the honeymoon is over and reality of the work it takes to make a relationship last sets in...
often newly weds never become oldly weds.
Love it when someone uses "taciturn" in a poem.
