Harvesting The Sun

Harvesting The Sun

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

A little sunlight can go a long way

"
I hold within and won't release
uplifting sights of priceless gold,
full glory to the rising day.
Behold the harvest gathered in
that Turner with his brush conveyed
displays of richest opulence.

My mind is brimful, filled with brights,
of lucent, lustrous, blazing sky,
a palette of my own delights.
And dappled, dancing glints at sea,
all misery be done, be gone,
you can't compete with morning sun.

You can't compete with nature's gifts,
a therapy for those whose eyes
are dimmed by doldrums of the dark.
A spark for some is all it takes,
a blinding flash for them to see
a lighted match can offer hope.

The magnificent title caught my eye .. well both of them really & tho' not exactly blinded by the main body and text (I'm almost blind anyway) .. I was seriously taken aback by the beauty contained therein and subsequently conveyed ..

Ahh, the sun! I remember tell of such a thing as storm whatever knocks on door and weather report says snow expected. It also says actual temp and feels like temp, which, if it feels like minus 3 but the actual is zero, then surely it is minus 3 if it feels like minus 3😊
This one warms the cockles, wherever they be though, of the lesser spotted big yellow skyball of fire. I even have a pic of it somewhere... Oh, here it is, conclusive proof of its existence.... ☀ (See!) 😊
If only I could move, from neath penguin onesie, slanket and those one big giant slipper you put both feet into. (Still haven't got used to hopping when using po-po, and as for making a cuppa, it always disappears before I get to my seat 😊
I've even taken to slapping myself in the mirror of a morn, just to be sure I'm not dreaming and will hopefully wake up and realise this has been one long dreammare, a la Bobby Ewing.
Perhaps that is the reason Scotland used to be called Hibernia..... Well, highbrr!nate is quite hard to spell! 😊
May your day be blessed by that warming glow of sky all goodness. Hope all is well in diet Scotland, which is my new name for England in winter, as I see you guys get a bit brr! too in frostbite season. 😊

This poem was full of sunshine- it’s full of beauty and I feel like it comes from how it could be interpreted in different ways, as usual with poetry but this one is just so universally gorgeous. It feels as if you captured the dawn and put into a poem. I truly love this piece and the world needs more art like this.

Makes me think back to the 70's and sunbathing on a hot day. Listening to Lynard and sipping a cola.

The sunrise, when you catch it just right, is a type of beauty that transcends every single thing that is wrong. At least for a moment.

Our troubles are temporary, nature's beauty is lasting. Is what I stole from your poem.
