In Best Belief

In Best Belief

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(written four months ago and far from being resolved)

"
hearts weep in silence
eyes mist with pain
over and over
a record plays
when will we see you again

when will we see you again
my love
when will we see you again
when the last of birch leaves
flutter down
in a flurry resembling rain

till then my love
on hopes we cling
we'll sing a song of best belief
we'll sing a song of memories
and beg it's not in vain

'...when the last of birch leaves

You portray the emotions with this above line in such a vivid way, that I got completely carried away..
What a powerful imagery, dear Chris..
Sometimes, life brings some painful turns but with "song of best belief", this too shall pass, probably.

I thought everything already was in vain from birth for everybody... just to different degrees and such.

You always have good structure to your writing. It's somewhat admirable.

Thank you for admiring my work. Pleased you like the structure.

A poignant piece here
filled with best belief
yet doubtful ..one can
only hope for the best
or closure of a situation
that seems to be ongoing
well penned and expressed

I like the gentleness and the longing in this. I also pick up a desire for something great. Well, I guess that is longing! lol Silly me. I like this.
Nicely done.

dear Chris... the waiting... praying....
hoping for perhaps a miracle. It is lovely
to recognize miracles... and if necessary...
I pray that you will be blessed with a healing,,,

Wow! This is quite a downer, for you! Despite the optimistic-sounding title, your poem gives off these overall vibes of being WAY too jaded to believe in a possible meeting again someday (how I am, so maybe that's why I read it this way) Fondly *smile*

Waiting for a safe return (from somewhere); your words are soft and a bit sad and nostalgic, all the memories we share in song and and "best belief"; and praying that this is not in vain. Love you choice of words for this piece Chris, and the repetition of lines makes it even stronger. A nostalgic write.
Best to you,
B.

Lovely nostalgic feel about this Piece Chris, and a Song-like resonance in the refrains. Eminently moving and catches just the right notes for an Autumn Day in England.

Chris ,.lovely poems you have posted yesterday . I could truly sense the sadness, hope and the awaiting after the battle of whatever this guy was going to conquer .But every single emotion was felt and heard even in the silence of their hearts . Wonderful poem Chris
