Bleed

Bleed

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Dragon’s breath steel

Is the tip of the sword

Piercing time tested flesh

         Allowing my soul to bleed…

The innocence of a child

I knew once upon a time

Till fairytales turned

                           To nightmares.

Now I bleed a red stripe

To feed the sacrificial soil

On an unknown grave

In honor of brave blood

Spilled so I can be…

         Who I should

                  Who I need

                           Who I am.

Then I bleed white cells

To spread purity that

Hasn’t existed since genesis

         Then maybe the poor

Wouldn’t be paying

         For the rich man’s sins.

I need to bleed unconditional blue

Like it never left my body

So my spirit can soar

         Where the eagle still dreams

Of what it once stood for yet

         Treated like an endangered species.

Bleed till my heart has no more to give

Bleed till my heart can feel alive again.

Am I getting a red, white, and blue as in let's get an understanding of the true meaning of the flag...? Humm? LOL
**************************************************************************************************************************************************************
This is a very masterful presentation as you subtly weave a web that captures the spirit of pain, sacrifice, and greed which are brilliantly reflected through each color of our flag.
But when the spirit of the colors are in unison it restores to life the aspirations of hope...
your words:
"I need to bleed unconditional blue

Like it never left my body

So my spirit can soar

Where the eagle still dreams

Of what it once stood for yet

Treated like an endangered species.

Bleed till my heart has no more to give

Bleed till my heart can feel alive again."

Very well done Cowboy,
Very well written!

Hey Dale!
I like the format of this write, and especially appreciate it as it may have a different meaning to each reader...a kalidoscope of views.
As TheDutchessPoet remarked of the flag - the colors of red, white and blue certainly bring it all together, and is an excellent observation, yet when I read it I garner white for purity that you speak of, red as sacrifice, loss, pain,
and blue as being "whole"...in the flesh, healed.
So, it may certainly bring different thoughts to mind, and that is a talent!
Wonderful write!

Such a work as this, I truly appreciate; it sent shivers down my spine actually, got a few goosebumps too.

Anyway, this held so much thought in it, and yet, depending on who you are, so much can come out of it. It truly gives me inspiration in the way of 'being who you are'. I see so many fake people these days, it's almost stifling.

>Then maybe the poor
>Wouldn’t be paying
>For the rich man’s sins.

Those lines are something so true, that I can't even begin to elaborate really. But it seems that these days, so many people who can't pay anymore, are trying to make up for things wealthy people did. It also traces back to nasty people using nice people to get where they want to be. [And no, I don't mean all wealthy people are nasty, definitely not.]

Anyway, once more, a wonderful piece, thanks for writing!

I really like the way this is formatted, kudos.
Generally very well written.
One suggestion - in the line "the innocents of a child", don't you mean "innocence"?
