The Ballad Of(A Siren And Me)

The Ballad Of(A Siren And Me)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Sugar covered lips

With a tart smile

Whisper to me

Over a chilling breeze

About wings of steel

And the angel that flies

Despite being assigned them.

Her voice soft and raspy

Tells the tale

Of a fall from grace

That becomes the inspiration

To those with molded halos.

Breaking out in song

To sing a verse

Of heaven’s limitations,

The melodic intension

Strikes a chord in my soul

That sparks a fire

Even hell could not contain.

Now amongst the manipulated ashes

I await my fate

In skin to charred

To feel the pain.

Then in a twist of fate

The sun blinded my eyes

So I could see

What life was like.

This was great. I like the images this poem invoked when I read it. It reads to me like two lovers that seem to become bad for each other in the end. I don't know that is what I thought of when I read it. Poetry confuses me sometimes. This was very good though and I did enjoy reading.

My favorite: "I await my fate
In skin to charred
To feel the pain."

I find it interesting how you mention heaven and then hell right after that. "Of heaven’s limitations,
The melodic intension
Strikes a chord in my soul
That sparks a fire
Even hell could not contain."
This is a powerful poem through and through, something that really spoke to me and made me think. Reading Coyote's review, agree with him about sometimes we have to reach rock bottom to know the real good in life, or just to appreciate it. I know that now, and am learning that. This is an excellent piece

That sparks a fire
Even hell could not contain.
--my favorite line. the lines were kinda broken but i think the real meaning is honestly just beyond my level of understanding. darkly written. i like how you ended it with a hint of hope.

This was a 'boss' conclusion to the poem!

There is such a passionate depth to your work.. that fire that few ever feel.. that longing that is satisfied yet always hungering. Profoundly voiced!

wow; i don't think i ever heard of someone write that heaven has its llimitations - this totally shifted and opened up my mind....as if we humans inherited part heaven and part hell - while the angels live but cannot feel and devils live but cannot heal...i think i am inspired to write something - thank you for sharing...
