Shame

Shame

A Chapter by Dice Jordan

Joy rings around the world

Places sting the memory merrily

Sounds shimmy in and out the mind

The tide is set by the senses

And today they are numb.

Today all feeling for me is gone.

Melancholy absorbs my world

and builds a wall that divides me from you all

You rejoice in their sadness

and swim in their shame

You gain riches from their poverty

and get excited from their remorse

when they have done nothing.

They should not be put to blame.

Their piety is truer than the richest man in your family.

You should be the ones to mourn

This displace is a disgrace

I refuse to take part

So I stand, feeling nothing, beyond in the dark.
