the announcer on the NFL network was explaining the Detroit Lion's defense by saying it is a "bend but don't break defense". I question his logic of a team that won only six games all year. Parts of love
bend (and I love the analogy to elasticity) but don't ever break. Stretches at the seams when the
first powerful crisis comes a calling, but never completely breaks. The power of love is strong
Isaac Hayes use to say....

This reminds me of the move "The Mexican" with Julia Roberts, when is enough finally enough? I love this one Jacob, love bends, never breaks, but can you wear it thin?

Some ties are not meant to be broken....even if we think we want to break them. We keep going back for more...and if that is not love perhaps it is self hate....there is a thin line. Another great senryu. Lydi**

makes me think of those plastic rings holding 6 pacs together ... they just keep stretching ... difficult to break ... takes a great deal of effort ...pity the madness eh!? love the title and classic senryu form ... the foible of inability to let go ... if we havent suffered it ..i guess we dont know love :}

Sorry if I sound too excited but this is one of the BEST if not the best work of yours that I have ever come across. Just when I think I have made progress with brevity you come along and share something that raises the bar in terms of impact and feelings packed in these simple, short lines. Yeah they really don't break, perhaps maybe that's because there's also part of our heart which is secretly busy strengthening it so that it can last the strain without even us realizing. They say feelings can change in a matter of seconds, maybe the strings are forged and strengthened in those seconds as well. So that when times really get bad, those small modifications end up helping the string from not snapping. Again it's just my take ^^

Just when we think there is no more love to give, we find those strings of the heart just keep on going, despite the pain of the past, they only play for the now. Beautifully captured in so few words Jacob.

i often wonder whats makes loves ties so strong Jacob?? Yes you are right...stretched so thin yet the ties just won't break. It seems that love has us all tied up as no matter how much we know that we should just let go we can't as there is something with love that has us hanging on.

Oh, in some way love is like a rubber. Short yet full of meaning.

Compromise and accommodate someone's capriciousness does stretch us to our limits. But love like ties that holds and unbuckled.
