the other side of "Last Call"

the other side of "Last Call"

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the other side of "Last Call"

non-committal lips

frost colored mascara

snow white hair

fashioned in tight bun

lashes bland black shadow

she is the one

the heart underneath yearns for freedom

from the staunch mind that jails her

he is her exclusive bond

she gives up her valuables

in exchange

for a trip to the other side

of the bars

where the cherries are plucked

from the sours,

and the stems sewn together

by tongues woven

in fruitful friction...

I had a girlfriend once who tried to teach me to tie a cherry stem into a knot in my mouth, but alas I never could. I didn't really try that hard to learn anyway. I enjoyed watching her do it. Does an all night bender at the bar reveal who we are at last call? Hmm.
A very descriptive and movie like poem. You got your characterization down. Another good work. CD
