Regardless of the Size or High Definition of the Print

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Regardless of the Size or High Definition of the Print

Pulitzer's and Emmy's

read about, hear about it

first on the scene,

first on the pages

you heard it here

you saw it here

and there is no rustling of pages

as we stare at the headline

and freeze...

our mind imprinted with print

and footprints of ghosts

seeking shelter still

as the night lights up the sky

with shooting stars,

stars shot to death

and life an eclipse of the moon,

the darkest sun available

but priced out of range

normal is chaos now

and chaos burns my heart

should have worn those dark glasses

to protect,

but too late now.

i have burned my irises

with shattered roses

no longer believing the Gardener is paying attention

to his flowers

journalistic rabbits ravage the bed of love

and now, our eyes freeze to the screen,

freeze to the page of polarity

the magnet of a magnitude

of malevolence

draws me closer

to creating my own ending

before the reporters drown in their own

waters of sensationalism

and before that copy of tomorrow's Times

reaches its final "period"---

man i hear you!!! :( the power of the press, and Hollywood, is well understood by the purveyors of such; and too much of the worst of human behaviors .. sadder still is ...if it wasn't way in the black for them ..they wouldn't use it :(( i mean ..we should know whats going on in the world but maybe at least one of the countless acts of heroism, generosity and sacrifice could be featured with as much enthusiasm ... sigh ..big fat sigh .........

Good one. Sad that these events cause such a stir, but then we just carry on with life in our own back yard.
Because it hasn't hit our own backyard, yet.

"normal is chaos now," and we are drowning in the pool of chaos--filling fuller with sensationalism from the media.

Yes J a great write again. I remember when if you wanted horror, you read Stephen King, not the news or the box Tv ,and only accidents were depicted as horrible. In time, terrorism will be on page three whereby in a non political correctness era you were graced with a page three girl so much more pleasant. Somehow, all this correctness today hasn't done the world a lot of good!! And yes journalism bleeds the story dry until you're covered in it, call it 50 shades of journalism.:0

There is no one watching over us, the gardener has left the garden unattended. We are a house divided, the north and south pole of a magnet, the ultimate us and them. We are caught in the tsunami of chaos, and none of us really knows where we will wash up. We live in frightening times and your poem reminds me of dried petals strewn across a path that leads deep into the woods fraught with trepidation.

thank you for your words, Anne....

it's all too frightening.

These can be considered epic times and some writers reach beyond the black ink and write deep Crimson blood as the Capitol letter A turns to M.

Great write!

Al

thank you again, my friend, for your kind review...

It is a tragedy that there is so much negativity; being highlighted in the news. It seems daily. I highly doubt the Media, care about facts, or the (victims) involved. The more sensationalized the story; the more attention it receives. It all comes down to money. Greed. They thrive on themes that will affect the masses emotionally and morally. The same reasons why "reality" shows gain so much popularity. Some people love drama, they'll create it for themselves, and of course (try to) make money off of it. It's a sad reality. Either that, or I fear the world is indeed coming to an end. Terrible times we live in. On the bright side, we have the option to turn it off and tune it out, focus on our own matters, and life, suddenly looks a lot sweeter. Counting our blessings while praying for the world. Thought-Provoking write j. I'd rather log on to writerscafe, than read the news...:)

This is true, and eloquently written in your own special style. We barely bat an eyelash at the latest terror attack, the latest mother and child to be killed by an assailant known to the family ... but then again, how else can we live our day to day lives without becoming agoraphobes?

I find it to be quite sad that "normal is chaos now," as well as "the magnet of a magnitude of malevolence." So horrific that is what the world has come to. So much hate, violence, racism, greed, and the media to me only glorifies it. :P Superb write.
