Cacophony of the Keys

Cacophony of the Keys

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Cacophony of the Keys

a serenade of cicadas

outside my window

while inside fruit flies attach

to my screen

i type peach tree poems

with apricot rhymes

and then pear them down

to just a couple accents

two syllables of apple wonder

suddenly the serenade stops

and i am startled by the silence

there is no outside

no window

no me

just a wall of citrus climbing

and a small toad

hopping randomly

waiting for a song.

Once again, I like the powerful imagery in this, like in these words.
This is a well penned write, I found it quite intriguing.

I'm back, I just got upset at all the ads, I can't do anything without an add popping up.
Awwww.....that’s adorable!!! You would have no way of knowing this, but I have a weakness for frogs, and they sometimes creep into my writing! You managed to transform the screen into something a fruit fly might be interested in. And you let us feast on fruit while listening to the ambient summer sounds, truly letting us in without being sloppy about it.

A surgical strike of a poem that is deceptively casual. Very elegant, Jacob!!! I have much to learn. :):)

There is something so dreamish about your write... you carry us into every sight... every scent. Seems just one cicada here is enough to shake the trees... and in your vision I can feel their song awakening the vibrance of the sighing fruit while you fade into the song. Extravagant.

Wow in this fruity write there is a parched tongue awaiting freedom and writing such allegorical orchards of desire that the poet starves to death!

Sounds like a follow up from your wonderful pen Jacob!
A tasty write, Jacob! The fruit flies are words and you capture them. When the serenade stops, we are entertained with another wonderful poem. Lydi**

' pear them down - to just a couple accents - two syllables of apple wonder - '

Your Keys have much to answer for.: Such a drift - losing self to what you see/saw, what it reminded you of, how it touched a nerve. A loss of you given to another world.. perhaps.. reveries.. that toad, that silent voice.. the scent of citrus fruit... beautiful.. truly beautiful..

Hey, I just sniffed the air, thinking of peppery orange peel! Have a wild pet toad in my garden.. been resident three years or so.. we eye each other in the almost dark then sing duets.. if you can belief it, you're a real human!

This is more than fruity, it is delicious. It sounds as though you needed that serenade from cicadas to help you hit those keys. Now you are left in the company of a toad, in the silence, both waiting to be serenaded. Very visual Jacob. Strong pictures on my mind here.

It was almost like you were daydreaming, a moment of nature’s orchestra then silence.
