I wonder what she would think of her fame today? A great pity she didn't reap the benefits back then. An awesome poet and I know she is your favourite. A fine tribute in couplets, and another rhymer too. That is two consecutive rhyming poems Jacob. I think I am in shock :))

this is the third time I have written a review for this...I hate this glitchy damn site. Anywho, back to you. I think the masses love anyone who can see them on ground level, straight in the eye instead of looking down at the top of their heads. I really enjoyed this Jacob.

I loved this, Jacob.
It makes me really think about how people aren't really appreciated until they're gone.
El Greco, Vincent van Gogh, Edgar Allen Poe, etc. It's a shame someone with her brain wasn't appreciated while she was alive, but I guess that's the curse of being born a woman in the 1830's.

I am pretty sure she would have intimidated most of the male poets of the time since she was surely ahead of hers.
But you are right...during that time...that would have not gone over so well.
Poets, especially don't get recognition often until they pass. Like Sexton, Plath, Berryman and others.
Thank you for your insights, Nix...

Dickenson was the only poet my daughter would ever read without forcing it on her, if we find a piece of ourselves during the reading it's very likely we will read more.

Just that little piece of ourselves makes a poem worth it.
I love identifying with works I read.
thanks, Corset.

She was such an interesting poet with a very distinct style. She could write about anything or even nothing and make it sound profound. Not a cool thing back then for a woman to write but what did she care 😁 this was a treat to read

That third bit - a floozy’s quill bent to her will...that part made me stop and think. Great writers do that. They cause a soul to think. Thank you
