Great write! And it’s a wonder that there aren’t more sink holes with the metaphorical weight we put upon this planet, we do carry heavy loads everyday! You always find ways of writing it so uniquely.
You get pleasure knowing we're all out here trying to figure out your metaphors, don't you? Reading your poems over and over. Which is the pleasure of reading your poetry. I think the road gets wider under the bypass because it has to carry the weight of our existence on the bridge above. The weight of trifles and years can really add up!
when Pandora finally had the where with all to slam the lid shut only one thing remained.. and even at my dying breath I will still hope... I am never disappointed when I wander by your page..
Powerful, honest and strong words shared Jacob.
"beeps heard over eerie silence
eyes under lids wanting to rouse
look in the rear view
of memories"
I loved the above lines. The rear-view, sometime can be ugly. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Do we shed tears over trifling events? I think if the tears come, the events were not trifles. The roads are many that we travel and often we miss the turn we "should" have taken. Thing is, what is in the past, is in the past. We have to move ahead and not look in the rear view mirror quite as much. Second chances? Well, I am not so sure they actually exist. I do know, though, that guilt solves nothing. Your poetry is so wonderful, Jacob. You took the right path when you chose to be a writer! Lydi**
Time's passage. I felt guilt here over trifles J. Sometimes when we look back and reflect, I think we might have done things differently. What's done is done and that can cause heartache. Powerful piece.
Pay your toll , pay your dues, pay your taxes. We travel, we make detours, we get lost. Someone will cry over something, others over nothings. Guilt is powerful, forgiveness is mighty.
What a powerful Poem..
The metaphors are wonderful.
I have a poem I wrote with strong metaphors but I am afraid to post it because.. well, of my uncertainty..
but reading yours.. "the toll paid" makes me want to push myself..
I now have read it 4 times..pondering over several parts..makes me think..
