tiger lily

tiger lily

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

tiger lily

the lilies are appearing

on the side of my life

spring is ready to grow into summer

the heat will exhaust them too soon

and I will sweat, cutting down the fossilized flowers

a clean up of sorts,

we sweep away spring for summer to come

like a guest who torches our parlor

while the trees peering over the roof

just laughed

they are budding

green to the burn

but they will learn

then beg for autumn's

frost to intimate

winter's visit.

I am allergic to lillies and yet i think they are so lovely and graceful.

Yes, they all blossom in turn during the summer months but few escape the wrath of Jack Frost ..

The World turns and the Seasons survive as recorded
in an Almanac... planting seeds at midnight in the moonlight.
Blossoms of pleasure become our twilight ... when curtains are drawn
and secrets remain. softly, Pat

To everything there is a season. The lilies are pretty while they bloom. I enjoyed the read.

Turn Turn Turn....thank you, Fabian.

Beautiful imagery here of the lilies in soring at their very best and then as they change with the cycle of the seasons. I have always preferred the spring. A great metaphor here J.

Yes, always think it's weird that we look forward to a season, then, during that season, look forward to the next one. Thanks, J.

I am still laughing.
Seasons turns like unstoppable wheels. Age runs it tracks. Life can move forward or stop in its tracks. We feel the changes. We realize or not the journey at hand.
A marvelous poem sir Jacob
