clues and causes

clues and causes

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

clues and causes

the facts,

an investigation

into the heart

a senile heart

not responsible for its actions

I never looked both ways

never saw you coming

did you swerve to engage me

was there purposeful meaning in your smile

research

careful planning

tears

I'm over

you are exonerated

and not held responsible

for the feelings

that drained

like blood from a wound.

I love the last two stanzas, that you were able to let go even with such a deep wound, a great statement of forgiveness.

dear Jacob… we may be “turned into Sand” for looking back to how beautiful our World once was… Tragedy always weighs in as the Leaders become Killers in a War Game called Extinct. We always have Hope if anyone is spared. Sadly, Pat

I like the reference to Lot's wife...Thank you, Pat,

Verse two identifies the culprit. The verdict in verse five was never in doubt. Senile hearts always suffer in the end.

Insightful as always, John. Thank you...

Senile hearts are just as tender and vulnerable to love as young hearts..

Thank you, Stella,

A heart is a heart whether senile or not. When the heart chooses, the brain won’t listen. That can result in much sadness and even disasters for the soft of heart.

Spontaneity, heat of the moment passion, lust, yep, the words of the iconic Carter/Cash song, I'm going to Jackson ring true here,

' We got married in a fever
Hotter than a pepper sprout
We've been talkin' 'bout Jackson
Ever since the fire went out '

Nice one Jacob!

thank you, Tom...remember the remake?
Lee hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra?
Nice. I managed to fall, one more time, long after I figured that "crap" was out of my system ... she too was exonerated. Like Jimmy Buffett said "... it's my own damned fault". ~Jim

Senile hearts live amongst all of us I do believe. Blind to the path that isn’t for is us
