love, hurt and good rain

love, hurt and good rain

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

love, hurt and good rain

goodbyes are intermittent

showers

postponing affection

till the clouds are removed from the field

of play

and

love resumes

albeit a shortened game

infinity has too many pitching changes anyway

and the glove fits only so long

and then blisters

cause the heart to be thrown off

praying for a shower

so affection has the opportunity

to fester once again.

Love isn't always a smooth, unruffled affair. Sometimes if features interruptions, pauses in which issues are settled, and then the affection resumes again. Using the baseball metaphor, sometimes the fit of the glove (relationship) gets too tight, and then there is another interruption, after which affection will "fester" once more.

An intermittent love that showers one day and festers the next. Doesn’t sound like a very warm and comforting love. Unfortunately sometimes it is that way
