state we
cannot die in our dreams not
even of joy love
passes over like a cloud the
subconscious prays for rain it's
sort of a baptism like
an infant shutting its eyes to
avert the splash we
wake, saved from obscurity terminated
scapes smiling
simply from survival those
close calls make us restless blanket
the fears that
emerge in R.E.M goodnights
get harder each time. erin-cilberto 5/27/24 © 2024 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
