This poem is from a novel I'm currently working on (I only have it in Spanish, sorry)

¡Cantinero! ¡Cantinero!

Dame otra cerveza

Quiero olvidar a Jania

¡Sacarla de mi cabeza!

Fue una mañana de invierno

En que llegó aquel barco

Con el tal Jalipo Markus

Joven, rico y guapo

Ese tal Jalipo Markus

Era un gran comerciante

Vino a vender sus telas

Especias y obras de arte

¡Cantinero! ¡Cantinero!

Dame una ginebra

No sé si podré acabar

De narrar mi tragedia

Jania, ¡ah!, mi bella Jania

Fue una tarde al puerto

Y al ver a ese tal Jalipo

Se quedó prendada

Él también la vio muy bella

Pronto se quisieron

Y sin ni un poco de pena

Me dejó y se fueron

¡Cantinero! ¡Cantinero!

Dame algo más fuerte

¿Qué no ves que ya no puedo?

¡Maldigo mi suerte!

Partieron de madrugada

Hace ya un par de días

Me dejó sin decir nada

Con las manos vacías

Ese par del demonio

nunca volverá

Y si acaso un día lo hicieran

¡Lo lamentarán!

¡Compañeros! ¡Compañeros!

Solo una cosa pido

Canten y beban conmigo

¡Bebamos hasta el olvido!

¡huuuuuuuuuuy! este se lee como algo de Rafael Pombo o José Martí, pero muy buen hecho. Al principio me pareció que te inspiró esa corta rima mía, pero al fin tal vez no. De todos modos, me encantó el flujo y la progresión - en algunos momentos, la musicalidad tenía algo de hipo, pero no tan grave. ¡Y la historia misma - me quedé boca abierta! ¡Bravo!

well, it does have love involved, but it isn't the main theme. It is a fantasy novel about two brothers who discover they are the sons of one of the last wizards on Earth. My goal is to transmit my deepest beliefs and thoughts through the story. Something profound, but that even a child could read it. I hope I'm making it. I'll be uploading an extract or two once I feel more confident about it.
