~Fly Me to the Moon~

~Fly Me to the Moon~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Yes, I stole the title from Ol' Blue Eyes...

"
Take me by the hand,
and fly me to the Moon
where fairies play
       & incandescent posies bloom
they dance on rainbows,
        skip on candy coated clouds
Take me on a Riverwalk
when the sun dips for the night
we'll talk until the wee hours
               of  a new dawn's morn
under stars that glitter
     with flushes of flashing harmony
perhaps a whisper or two
whilst we dine on oysters & fine wine
Fill my head with notions of bliss,
         & sweet forget~me~nots
if you ask me to dance
          perhaps, I'll take a chance
sweetly coo a melody for me
adorning song worthy of a trance
we'll gaze at the sky,
       see our own reflections
in the light cast
            upon our hearts in tune
If you take me by the hand,
and fly me to the Moon

OMG This site is going to give me an aneurysm someday...I just spent fifteen minutes pouring my heart into this review cuz I was so touched by this poem, and the site glitches out and erases it...damn it...this is not the kind of thing I need happening to me today...anyways...

I will now try to retain the important bits the best I can: Any man who does not feel the need to extend a hand upon reading this piece is a fool...it reads like an invitation to an emotional utopia where romance is a sacred thing and not a game in which many people do not play fairly...I smiled at the feeling of innocence that pervades this piece and borders on playful, but it was a mournful smile as well, knowing that such innocence is often destroyed by bad apples before it has the chance to be enjoyed...wonderful work Mrs.R, you did a job on my heartstrings with this one :)

It sure is Barbara, thanks so much!
One of my all time favorite songs!! It never sounds dated or old. Frank was a God.

Beautiful poem, so full of promise and bright hope. Got me choked up!

You are one amazing poetess, Frifri - this is such a wonderfully written poem, it really touches me. The moon is so magical, as are you and this write. Simply divine, hon. Well done.

You're too kind my sweet Sye, thanks muchly. :-)
Such beautiful music you are making! This should be a ballad set to twelve string guitars and hammer dulcimers. The scenes totally grab the reader's senses and thoughts. While ol' Frankie had his "Fly Me to the Moon," I like yours better. Such exquisite images!

Woo minichinz I'm dancing to your review, thanks so much!
this piece is so full of bliss and whimsy! reminds of the feelings when a relationship is just beginning and you just want to run away with someone and absorb every piece of them. these words were an easy flow and a daydreaming sigh- lovely!

Your review is lovely, thanks Dana!
The character in the poem is asking to be swept off her feet. Maybe to be taken to a park where there are flowers and candies available, when they reach the lagoon on the park for the other person to use it as a conversational piece to lean closer to her and whisper at her ear.

Then the character in the poem recommends what she would like to hear about, that would set the mood for her to make a decision, from the choices the other person whispers that create her to envision and take her away from reality during those moments

The character in the poem already likes the other person all she is doing is making recommendations of how she would feel more comfortable giving in to the other person that she is attracted to.

This is delightful Frieda, and so romantic, playful... simply magical. Heartfelt and whimsical. Lovely presentation. Good imagery and descriptives. Through the lens of your eye and heart, you paint a vivid picture of this night of romance that any reader can appreciate and see in their mind's eye. Flow is good; line to line transition and breaks are done well. Very nice rhythm and enjambment. Lovely depth of feeling. I especially like:
"we'll gaze at the sky,
see our own reflections
in the light cast
upon our hearts in tune"
simply beautiful; one can feel the love. Good word choice. Nice use of repetition for emphasis of feeling. Well penned and a most enjoyable read. Write on!
