Chlorine Voices

Chlorine Voices

A Poem by Frieda P

My dreams once vibrant as kaleidoscopic views
thought I knew my way to heaven's gate
chlorine  chimera saturated the devils eyes
bleached the color from my hallucinations

Laid to die in a field, burnt umbrage's past history
shadowed doubts annihilated black & white
rainbows splintered   under  pressured allusions
trapped in mottled spectrum tween gray voices

This is too sad, Frieda. Your description of broken dreams and the color bleached from the world exactly fits the agony of a broken dream, and not necessarily a romantic one. I took a promotion once because I thought it was a good move for my managerial track, but once I was there, I hated it. And I felt as if some giant hand was squeezing my heart; the sunlight lost brightness, and the music ground to a halt. Well-written.

This is a heavy poem. Dashed dreams while all the color has been bled from your world. Your bleak words are quite effective.

Grazie mille Leslie.
Oh this is so clever Frieda. The imagery is raw and stark and you give the reader an image of a world that is left with little to celebrate.
Stunning writing! Ahh wish I could write this well!

You're too kind wordwarrior, thank you!
Such a brilliant write, Frieda. It is heavy and full of sorrow that touches me for my own reasons. It will touch each reader for their own sorrows that fly across their mind as they read. You are so talented - open those gorgeous wings and flutter by through the breeze and let the sorrows float away.
Excellent poem!

Thanks for your kind words SIrrah, you humble me my friend...
A very deep and effective write. As the reader I feel the sharp pain of disappointment and the grey after glow. Finely-done.

Always love when the reader 'feels' it Plume, thanks so much.
Over the rainbow, indeed. So funny I was working on some similar images but I tossed it aside. Glad. This piece rocks and mine would have, in comparison, seemed bleached out chalk. Lol.

Sometimes I feel as if I were wandering around in a poisonous fog...it's hard to find the way out, with eyes blinded and lungs burning with grief...
