...and then you touched me

...and then you touched me

A Poem by Frieda P

........and then you touched me
not in the usual fashion,
but deep within my soul's fancy
a fondling embrace that took flight
clutch'd and pique'd every relevant moment thereafter
life would forever be changed         yet
most everything stayed the same
except for deep within the recesses of time
breath stood still and the imprint within my heart,
lasting well beyond a lifetime of  endlessness
still just a mere drop of water in an infinite sea
oftentimes, especially when it rains blissfully
i think of how you enveloped me for perpetuity

It is interesting how that one touch - perhaps fleeting - can stay with us forever...

Your poem reminds me of the first time my daughter wrapped her tiny hand around my finger and I knew nothing would ever feel like that again...nothing would ever be the same.

A beautiful poem my friend. You have touched my heart with this one.

Lord, do I live and breathe this poem every day, every minute, and have done so for nigh on 30 years. It's like you took my heart and pressed it to the page. Very good!

Wooo, 30 years, that's a long time, thanks Linda!
Nothing as good as a Streisand song to accompany such romantic words. It might have been a simple touch, but its impact was felt in your soul....and that feeling never really leaves, does it? There is a longing for what once was in this one. Absolutely lovely imagery.....a keeper. Lydi**

yet

most everything stayed the same

except for deep within the recesses of time

This line captivated my mind.
How true Frieda.
I think you poetry does this very same thing to the heats of those fortunate to read and really pay attention to the intention of your work.

Very strong work and an enjoyable song to go with it.

a fondling embrace that took flight
clutch'd and pique'd every relevant moment thereafter.

Smiling and pique'd by your sweet response thanks Tom!
There are some people and emotions that are etched into the forever deep inside and nothing, absolutely nothing, will ever remove what you're left with. But the added glory is that whatever remains is everything that ever was or ever will be and, for that alone, smiles never leave your heart. And yours is a very special heart. Beautiful words, dear petulia.
