Ninety-Six

A Chapter by Kenneth The Poet

Eagle, small city

landmark in a side-street park,

instilling some kind

of pride in the few who walk

by, is largely dismissed

 

Forgotten like a

veteran of Korea,

just fading away

 

Lost, standing alone,

flying some trajectory

unforgiving, like

our national destiny,

one with the blackness

 

Oxidizing in

the elements, meaning lost

as beings expire.
